The above statistics as well as other useful information, are produced from the data collected through the Labour Force Survey (LFS).
Why is the Labour Force Survey important?
The statistics produced from the data of the Labour Force Survey (LFS) provide important information regarding the distribution of the population aged 15 years and over into three main categories, regarding their labour status, the employed, the unemployed and the persons outside the labour force (inactive) in our country. In addition, the survey collects data related to the main job, the occupation, the working hours, the highest level of education, the search of a job, as well as other useful information, combining the employment and unemployment with other demographic characteristics of the population.
Based on the results of this survey, the government can make well-informed decisions on measures and schemes targeting the reduction of unemployment, on the provision of employment incentives etc. Additionally, it can also evaluate the effectiveness of measures and policies already in place and adjust accordingly, based on our statistics.
Therefore, your participation is important and contributes to better lives for all of us, through the production of official statistics. So, if you are asked to participate, please do!
And remember, any information you provide us is treated as confidential so, we will never share your personal details with anyone.
Thank you for your cooperation and we hope to continue like this in the future!
