Methodological Note on the International Carriage of Goods by Road Survey
Aim The aim of the international carriage of goods by road survey is the
collection of statistical data concerning all the international movements of freight by means of goods road transport vehicles, which are registered in the Transport Department of the Republic of Cyprus. The Survey is carried out according to the Council Regulation (EC) No 1172/98 in the context of the common transport policy. According to the Statistics Law No 15(1) of 2000, the Statistical Service treats all the data collected as confidential and is used solely for
statistical purposes.
Coverage The Survey covers all movements of freight (inbound and outbound journeys) around the year.
Unit of Enumeration The unit of enumeration is the goods road transport vehicle.
Collection of Data
Officers of Customs and Excise Department collect the data through personal interviews.
Data Processing After the data entry of the questionnaires, quarterly datasets and supplementary tables are transmitted to Eurostat for validation, data processing, analysis and dissemination. Quarterly results of the survey are presented in the Statistical Service’s website.
The annual results are published in the report «Transport Statistics».
