Methodological note on the Turnover Index in Services Scope The Services Turnover Value Index, based on the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities (NACE Rev.2), reflects the monthly and quarterly changes of turnover in the sectors of “Accommodation and Food Service Activities”, “Information and Communication”, “Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities” and “Administrative and Support Service Activities”. Data Collection Monthly turnover figures are collected on a quarterly basis for each enterprise that participates in the survey. The survey is on a sampling basis and concerns the enterprises that they are activated in the economic sectors mentioned above. The data collection is done by means of telephone enquiries, fax or e-mails. The survey is carried out in accordance with the Statistics Law 15(I)/2000. The Statistical Service is obliged by the Statistics Law to treat all information obtained as strictly confidential and only for statistical purposes. Compilation method and dissemination practices The turnover index is produced for the various activities in NACE classification that are related to the sector of Services. The base year for the index is 2010, meaning that it shows the changes in turnover of the reference period in relation with the turnover average of the year 2010. For the base year, the average of the quarterly indices is 100. The weights used are derived from the total sales of the enterprises in the base year (2010) and reflect the turnover of each sub-sector in relation to the total turnover of the reference sector. The compilation of the Services Turnover Index follows the provisions of Council Regulation (EC) No 1165/98 concerning short-term statistics and its amending Regulations. The index is transmitted to the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat) and also published on the official website of the Statistical Service two months after the end of the reference quarter.
