Methodological note on the Turnover Index in Services Scope The aim of the Index is to measure the variations of turnover in services activity of Restaurants, Hotels, Renting of Machinery, Computers and Other Business Activities in accordance to the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities, NACE rev. 1.1. Data collection Each quarter, monthly turnover data is collected from each enterprise. The data source is a sample survey of enterprises active in Services. The data collection method is usually the telephone interview or otherwise the reception of fax or e-mail. The Turnover Value Index of Services follows the provisions of the Statistics Law (15(I) of 2000) according to which the Statistical Service ensures the confidentiality of collected data and uses it solely for statistical purposes. Compilation method and dissemination practices The Index is compiled for various activities of NACE classification under the domain of Services. The base year for the Index is 2000 therefore the Index shows the change in the turnover of enterprises of the reference period in relation to its average value in the year 2000. In the base year, the average of the Turnover Index for the four quarters is set to 100. On the official website of the Statistical Service, 2 tables related to the Index are published. The first concerns monthly data and the second quarterly data. Both of them are published after 3 months from the end of the reference quarter and disseminated to Eurostat in accordance to the provisions of the European Regulation for the Short-Term Statistics. On the website, in the Excel file with the quarterly data, the last columns measure percentage changes of the reference quarter in relation to the corresponding period of the previous year.
