Data regarding job vacancies in the economy, by economic sector.
Collection of data via the Employment and Job Vacancies Survey, which is a telephone survey conducted on a quarterly basis using an electronic questionnaire, on a sample of about 3.000 enterprises. The enterprises are also given the option to submit the data requested via web-questionnaires. The sampling scheme used is stratified sampling by economic activity and size group. Additionally, job vacancy announcements published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Cyprus are also used.
The survey covers enterprises with 1 or more employees classified in all sectors of economic activities according to the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities NACE Rev. 2 of the European Union system, except Sectors A (Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing), T (Activities of Households as Employers; Undifferentiated Goods- and Services-Producing Activities of Households for own use) and U (Activities of Extraterritorial Organizations and Bodies).
Quarterly
Job Vacancies Statistics are announced with a relevant Press Release. The data are updated on the online database CYSTAT-DB on CYSTAT's web Portal. Data are available in the form of predefined tables, from 2009 until 2021. Additionally, data are transmitted and disseminated from Eurostat's website.
The data are comparable over time.
Job vacancy: is a paid post that is newly created, unoccupied or about to become vacant, and for which the employer is taking active steps to find a suitable candidate from outside the enterprise concerned and intends to fill it either immediately or within a specific period of time. Job vacancy rate: is the number of job vacancies expressed as a percentage of the total number of occupied posts and job vacancies.
Economic activity: Industrial classification of economic activities within the European Communities (NACE Rev. 2) - Results disseminated at the Section level.
