Description Information is provided for the final consumption expenditure of households by purpose, which consists of expenditure incurred of domestic households and non-resident households on the economic territory (Domestic concept).
Data is available at Current Market Prices, at Volume measures (constant prices) based on 2010 and at Previous Year Prices.
Method The estimation procedures for resident household expenditure are based mainly on the Households Budget Survey which is conducted every five years and the results are produced at the level of consumption category analysis (COICOP classification). This creates the need for extrapolations in the data for the years in between, with various indices.
Furthermore, for the calculation of private consumption expenditure data there are other data sources, which relate to specific COICOP categories. These sources are categorized as methodological models, administrative sources and additional calculations to ensure the completeness of the data.
The main source for the consumption expenditure by non-residents in the economic territory is the Balance of Payments (BoP) compiled by the Central Bank of Cyprus. The estimates for COICOP breakdown are valued based on a special survey, carried out by the Statistical Service of Cyprus covering the travelers' expenditure by category.
Data Coverage The statistical data for final consumption expenditure of households by purpose are based on the European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA 2010). All domestic households and non-resident households on the economic territory are covered (Government controlled areas).
Frequency The statistical data for final consumption expenditure of households by purpose are produced on an annual basis.
