Business Register

Business Register is the sampling frame for the business surveys conducted by the Statistical Service of Cyprus. It covers all Legal Units, Enterprises, Local Units, Kind of Activity Units and Enterprise Groups carrying out an economic activity according to the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities NACE Rev. 2 of the European Union.  In terms of Institutional Sectors it covers Corporations (financial and non-financial), General Government, Households and Non-Profit Institutions serving Households. Demographic, identification, contact and economic characteristics, concerning the pre-mentioned statistical units, are collected.

The Cyprus Statistical Business Register is updated on an annual basis using administrative sources and surveys conducted by the Statistical Service of Cyprus. The administrative sources used are the registers of the Social Insurance Services, the Tax Department and the Department of Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property.

Data is collected at the Legal Unit level and after is being processed, the statistical units "Enterprise" and "Enterprises Group" are delineated.

Business Register covers all Legal Units, Enterprises, Local Units, Kind of Activity Units and Enterprise Groups carrying out an economic activity according to the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities NACE Rev. 2 of the European Union.  

In terms of Institutional Sectors, it covers Corporations (financial and non-financial), General Government, Households and Non-Profit Institutions serving Households.

Business Register is updated on an annual basis.

The results of Business Register are announcenced with Press Releases. Data is available since 2018 in the form of predefined tables, as well in customisable tables on CYSTAT's online database, CYSTAT-DB.

Economic activity: Statistical classification of economic activities, 2008 (NACE Rev. 2) - Results are disseminated at the 4 digit level.

Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2019 on European business statistics, repealing 10 legal acts in the field of business statistics.

Council Regulation (EEC) No 696/93 of 15 March 1993 on the statistical units for the observation and analysis of the production system in the Community.
