Data description The survey on ICT usage and e-commerce in enterprises is an annual survey. Its main objective is to collect data about the use of information and communication technologies by the enterprises. The data refer to general information about the ICT systems used by the enterprise, the access and use of the internet and e-Commerce. Over the years several other special topics are covered such as Invoicing, Cloud Computing, Big Data analysis, ICT Specialists and Skills, Internet of Things, use of 3D printing technologies, use of Robotics, ICT security etc.
Method The frame population is the Business Register of the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
Before 2021, the sampling method used was stratified simple random sampling, taking into account the size and economic activity of each enterprise. Due to the small number of medium and large enterprises, it was decided to cover all those enterprises. Small enterprises were selected by using stratified simple random sampling. Data collection was carried out through online questionnaires (CAWI-Computer Assisted Web Interviews) and personal interviews (CAPI-computer assisted personal interviews).
Since 2021, all enterprises with 10 or more persons employed are covered and data collection is carried out exclusively with the use of computer-assisted web interviews (CAWI).
Data Coverage All enterprises with 10 or more persons employed in the following economic activities: NACE Rev. 2 sections C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, L and N, divisions 69-74 and group 95.1. Since 2021, division 75 is also covered.
The statistical unit is the enterprise.
Data Availability Data are available as from 2004, since the survey was carried out for the first time (CYSTAT-DB.).
Summary Results from the annual survey, Press Releases and the Methodological Information are available on the web-portal of the Statistical Service of Cyprus under the Statistical Theme “Science and Technology / Information Society”.
There are also tables available in excel format up to 2020.

Legal Framework The survey is co-funded by the European Union and conforms with Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics, repealing 10 legal acts in the field of business statistics.
