The portal aims to provide users an improved experience, with better accessibility and the use of interactive tools. The main features of the new portal are described as follows:

• Statistics: Organised by subtheme, accessible from the menu of “Statistics” in the Home Page. The page for each statistical subtheme contains relevant links to CYSTAT’s new online database (CYSTAT-DB), predefined (excel) tables, publications, infographics, announcements and methodology.

• CYSTAT-DB: CYSTAT’s new online database. It is an interactive tool, providing the possibility to create customized tables for various statistics. The database will be continuously enriched with new material. The possibility to use APIs is also provided via CYSTAT-DB, for direct access to machine readable data. A relevant users’ manual is also available on this page. CYSTAT-DB can be accessed from the home page or alternatively from the pages of statistical sub-themes.

• Main Indicators: Section in the home page providing the latest updates in statistics for selected indicators. Main indicators can be viewed in the home page (top of the page).

• Infographics: Visual representation of statistical data, using images, graphs and minimal text, providing an easy-to-understand overview of a statistical topic. Infographics are accessible via the home page and from statistical sub-theme pages.

• Release Calendar (Announcements): In this page the users can find published, confirmed and preliminary announcements. Users are able to search for specific announcements by time period, subtheme and title of announcement. The page is accessible via the home page and statistical sub-themes pages.

• Predefined tables: Contains predefined tables in excel format. Users have the option to search for specific tables by statistical subtheme, periodicity and reference year of the data. The page is accessible via the home page and statistical sub-themes pages.

• Publications: Contains all electronic publications of CYSTAT. Users can search by statistical subtheme and publication category using the relevant filters. The page is accessible from the statistics menu or from any statistical subtheme page. The page is accessible via the statistics menu on the home page and statistical sub-themes pages.

• Data Collection: Contains information regarding data collection by CYSTAT, such as, important information for the public, information on CYSTAT’s right to access data, information for specific surveys (household, enterprise and web surveys) and other relevant information (classification systems used, access to survey questionnaires, etc.). The page is accessible form the home page (menu bar).

• Methodology: Contains methodological information regarding the statistical surveys / activities of CYSTAT. The information is organised by statistical subtheme and relevant links are provided. Additionally, the page provides information regarding the quality framework, classification systems used, quality /metadata reports, survey questionnaires and other relevant links. Methodological information is linked to predefined tables, where relevant. The page is accessible from the main menu bar of the home page. The page is accessible form the home page (menu bar).

• About CYSTAT: Contains information regarding CYSTAT and CYSTAT’s policies, the legal framework for official statistics, the National Statistical System and the European Statistical System. The page is accessible form the home page (menu bar).

• Contact Us: Contains information relevant to contacting CYSTAT. Specifically, the users can access online communication forms for requesting general information, data (microdata or tailor-made data), submitting suggestions or complaints, requesting the arrangement of educational visits, or requesting help regarding European statistics. Additionally, the users can find information regarding job opportunities at CYSTAT, contact information for CYSTAT’s staff and address details. The page is accessible form the home page (menu bar).

• Services: Contains links to the services provided by CYSTAT, i.e. sign-in, the Alert Service, RSS Feeds, iCalendar, requests for tailor-made data, requests for microdata, and the European Statistical Data Support Centre. The page is accessible from the home page (menu bar).
CYSTAT-DB is the online database of the Statistical Service of Cyprus. It gives users the ability to produce the desired table, to format the presentation, to edit and make calculations and to save it in any form available. Additionally, requests can be saved and used at a later stage to get the updated table with the latest available statistics.

Access CYSTAT-DB from the home page of CYSTAT΄s Portal (Statistics > Related Links > CYSTAT-DB).
All statistical data on CYSTAT΄s web portal are available to users free of charge. A charge is applicable only for printed publications, tailor-made requests and the provision of microdata.
Yes, data and information available on CYSTAT's portal can be republished / used, provided that the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus is stated as the source of the information.
All registered users have free access to the Alert Service, which provides the option for users to be informed when new data are published in statistical areas of their interest (announcements, publications, predefined tables), or to be informed when CYSTAT's Release Calendar is updated.
Yes, with the launch of the new Portal, it will be necessary for you to re-register as a user, in order to be able to use the Alert Service provided. This can easily be done from the relevant registration page on the Portal (Services > Sign In > Register Here).
First you must access the "Sign in" webpage, which is accessible from the home page, under the "Services" menu.

Then you must follow the link "Don't have an account? Register here." and you must fill in the required fields and follow the instructions.
In order to gain access to your profile page, first you must log into the portal, by selecting "Services > Sign in" from the main menu bar or by following the link of the relevant icon, located under the search bar in the header of the page.

After signing in, a new icon will appear under the search bar in the header, which you can click in order to go to your user profile page.
Go to the "Sign in" webpage, which is accessible from the home page, under the "Services" menu. Press the "Forgot Password?" link and follow the instructions.
Yes, this service is available. You can register to the "Alert" service and receive via email all new entries on the portal, for the latest Predefined Tables, Announcements, Publications and also, Release Calendar updates.
No, this service is available free of charge to all registered users.
The Release Calendar is updated every Friday and contains the dates of the announcements which are scheduled to be released in the following week. Additionally, the preliminary dates of almost all recurring announcements for the current month and the next three, are also available to users.

Moreover, users are given the option to look for announcements published in previous months or years, by selecting the reference period of interest to them, using the filters provided in the Release Calendar page.
A Confirmed Announcement shows that the release date is set (confirmed), while a Preliminary Announcement shows that the release date is preliminary and can be changed.
You can find older announcements in the Release Calendar webpage, by selecting the time period that interests you, using the filters provided.

In the same manner, you can locate historical data from the Predefined Tables webpage, by selecting the required year of reference, using the filter provided.
The dates indicate the most recent update of each table.
The survey results and statistical data compiled by CYSTAT are published in electronic publications mostly, available to the public. There is also a limited number of printed publications available. Detailed information on all Publications (current and historical) is available in the Publications Catalogue. The electronic publications (in pdf files) are available free of charge on CYSTAT΄s portal, accessible from the Publications webpage. The printed publications are available for sale from the Government Printing Office and from CYSTAT offices.
You can visit the Publications webpage on our portal where you can search for previous electronic publications. You can also use the filters provided for statistical subtheme selection or publication category, locate the required publications more easily. For information regarding printed publications you can download the "Publications Catalogue", also available on the Publications webpage or you can contact the Statistical Service directly (Contact us).
No, the content of the printed and electronic version of a publication is identical.
During the last few years it has been the aim of CYSTAT to increase the number of electronic publications, since they are available to users for free and can be more easily accessible. As a consequence, the number of printed publications has decreased significantly.
In order to open pdf files you need to have installed Adobe's "Acrobat Reader". You can easily download it from the web free of charge.
The problem may be due to the large size of the file combined with the download speed of your Internet connection. Try to save the file first and then open it, by pressing right click, select "save target as"/"save link as" and save the file on your computer.
Printed publications are available for sale from the Government Printing Office and from CYSTAT offices. Payment of orders can only be made by cash or by cheque to the name "Director Statistical Service, Nicosia, Cyprus".

In addition, users can obtain printed publications by mail, making their order to the Statistical Service (enquiries@cystat.mof.gov.cy). When receiving the order, an invoice which includes the order, the cost of publications and the cost of sending them by postal mail is sent (by email or by post). The user issues a check to the name of "Director of the Statistical Service, Nicosia, Cyprus" and sends it to the offices of the Statistical Service in Nicosia (Statistical Service, Michael Karaolis str., 1444, Nicosia) and upon the receipt of the check CYSTAT sends the reports to the address of the user (which is declared in the beginning of the process).
Yes, methodological information is available and can be accessed from the webpage "Methodology" of our portal. You can view methodological information available for any statistical subtheme, by survey / activity. You can also access the "Quality / Metadata Reports" webpage where you can view quality and metadata reports by statistical subtheme. Additionally, you may access webpages with CYSTAT's survey questionnaires, information on the quality framework, classification systems used and other information relevant to methodology.

Methodological information can also be accessed from the Predefined Tables webpage ("M" icon next to the tables), as well as from the statistical subthemes webpages.
The Euro SDMX Metadata Structure (ESMS) contains the description and representation of statistical metadata concepts to be used for documenting statistical data and for providing summary information useful for assessing data quality and the production process in general. The broad concepts used are compatible with the SDMX cross-domain concepts and with the common terminology as published within the SDMX "Metadata Common Vocabulary" (all published in January 2009).
Survey Questionnaires in electronic format (pdf files) are accessible via the webpages "Methodology" and "Data Collection" (main menu bar of the portal).
