Latest Figures: Labour Force Survey - Main Results, 2nd Quarter 2014

According to the results of the Labour Force Survey, which is carried out in accordance with a European Union Regulation, for the 2nd quarter of 2014, the number of employed persons amounted to 365,0 thousand (males 185,8 thousand and females 179,2 thousand) and the number of unemployed persons to 66,7 thousand (males 37,7 thousand and females 29,0 thousand).

The employment rate for persons aged 20-64 was 67,8% (males 71,7% and females 64,3%) recording an increase from the previous quarter of 2014 and the corresponding quarter of 2013.

The unemployment rate amounted to 15,4% of the labour force (males 16,8% and females 13,9%) recording a decrease from the previous quarter of 2014, 16,9% (males 17,6% and females 16,1%) and remaining at the same level as the corresponding quarter of 2013, 15,4% (males 16,2% and females 14,6%). Also the unemployment rate for young persons aged 15-24 amounted to 37,2% of the labour force of the same age group recording a decrease from the previous quarter of 2014 and the corresponding quarter of 2013.
