Survey Results: Industrial Production Survey, 2013

The Statistical Service announces the results of the annual Industrial Production Survey.

According to the survey results, employment in the industrial sector decreased in 2013 by 9,8% and reached 32,9 thousand compared to 36,5 thousand in 2012. In manufacturing employment decreased to 28,5 thousand, in mining and quarrying and electricity supply to 2,7 thousand and in water supply, sewerage and waste management to 1,7 thousand persons.

In the whole of the industrial sector gross output at current market prices recorded a decrease of 13,2% and reached €3.822,6 million in 2013 compared to €4.474,5 million in 2012. In manufacturing gross output decreased by 13,9% to €2.541,6 million, in mining and quarrying and electricity supply by 17,3% to €990,1 million and in water supply, sewerage and waste management by 10,3% to €291,0 million.

Value added at current market prices decreased by 11,9% in the total of industry and reached €1.335,9 million in 2013 compared to €1.515,5 million in 2012. In manufacturing value added decreased by 14,7% to €832,0 million, in mining and quarrying and electricity supply by 10,1% to €358,0 million, while in water supply, sewerage and waste management value added increased by 2,5% to €145,8 million.

The detailed results of the survey will be published in the annual report “Industrial Statistics” which is expected to be published in October 2015.
