Latest Figures: Transport Turnover Value Index, Jan-Mar 2013

The Statistical Service announces the turnover indices (provisional estimates) of the Transport Sector, for the period January – March 2013.
According to these indices, the Transport Sector, at current prices, degreased by 5,6%, compared with the corresponding period of 2012.
The main developments by activity for the period of January – March 2013 were:
(a) The «Land Transport» activity decreased by 5,4% in the first quarter of 2013, compared with the first quarter of 2012.
(b) The «Water Transport» turnover value, increased by 52,7% in the first quarter of 2013, compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
(c) «Air Transport» increased by 0,6%.
(d) The «Postal and Courier activities» turnover value, decreased by 10,1%, compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
