Latest Figures: Transport Turnover Value Index, Jan-Dec 2012

The Statistical Service announces the turnover indices (provisional estimates) of the Transport Sector, for the period January – December 2012.
According to these indices, the Transport Sector, at current prices, degreased by 11,3%, compared with the corresponding period of 2011.
The main developments by activity for the period of January – December 2012 were:
(a) The «Land Transport» activity decreased by 2,0% in 2012, compared with 2011.
(b) The «Water Transport» turnover value, decreased by 39,0% in 2012, compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
(c) «Air Transport» decreased by 18,2%.
(d) The «Postal and Courier activities» turnover value, decreased by 4,6%, compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
