Survey Results: Industrial Production Survey, 2014

The Statistical Service announces the main results of the annual Industrial Production Survey.

According to the survey results, employment in the broad industrial sector decreased in 2014 by 4,2% to 31,6 thousand compared to 33,0 thousand in 2013. In manufacturing employment decreased to 27,4 thousand, in mining and quarrying and electricity supply to 2,6 thousand and in water supply, sewerage and waste management to 1,7 thousand persons.

In the whole of the industrial sector gross output at current market prices recorded a decrease of 5,0% to €3.649,6 million in 2014 compared to €3.839,6 million in 2013. In manufacturing gross output decreased by 1,6% to €2.518,5 million, in mining and quarrying and electricity supply by 14,4% to €847,2 million and in water supply, sewerage and waste management by 3,4% to €281,1 million.

Value added at current market prices fell by 5,7% in the total of industry and reached €1.271,2 million in 2014 compared to €1.348,1 million in 2013. In manufacturing value added increased marginally by 0,2% to €846,3 million, in mining and quarrying and electricity supply it decreased by 20,4% to €284,9 million and in water supply, sewerage and waste management value added decreased by 4,0% to €140,0 million.

The detailed results of the survey will be included in the annual report “Industrial Statistics” which is expected to be published in October 2016.
